The
Strand Bavayia (Bavayia crassicollis)
is thought to be restricted to the Loyalty Islands of
New Caledonia, but there are possibilities that isolated
populations exist on the main islands.
The Strand Bavayia grows to a length
of 9 cm, not their tail adds another 8 - 9 cm onto their
total length. As this species of gecko
grows, the tail is almost always the same length as
their body.
Their coloration is a medium brown to dark grey, with
paler spots along their body, rimmed with a darker brown.
Their undersides are normally a pale yellow or cream
