| The
Ornate Crevice Dragon (Ctenophorus
ornatus) is a native species of Western Australia,
where outcrops of granite can be found. Their range
covers the area from the Darling Range to the Goldfields,
all the way down to the southern shore.
A member of the genus Ctenophorus, or Rock
Dragons, the Ornate Crevice Dragon
can be found laying underneath pieces of granite rock,
boulders and other undisturbed areas in the region.
As with many of their related species, a head-bobbing
characteristic can be seen while they are basking in
the sun.
The Ornate Crevice Dragon grows to
about 29 cm, but their SVL
is 9.5 cm. Their tail is banded, and they can be distinguished
from other species in their genus by their extremely
flattened body.
