| The
Mulga Dragon (Caimanops amphiboluroides)
is an agamid lizard that lives natively in Western Australia,
and closely resembles the Bearded
Dragon. Their genus name, caimanops, comes
from the shape of their jaw, which resembles that of
a crocodile.
Growing up to 25 cm long (with their tail), the Mulga
Dragon is a medium-sized lizard.
It's SVL is only
about 9.5 cm though. Their coloring is in patterned
streaks of grey and brown, which allows them to hide
perfectly in their natural environment.
Mulga Dragons lives close to or around
Mulga trees, and often can be found hiding under leaves
near the tree base. They stay motionless here, and wait
for prey to come by as they ambush their unsuspecting
food.
